Highlights

Completed in September 2023 in Hove, Tempus by Rousseau Design Ltd offers a refined method of displaying time. Designed without traditional hands or numbers, it uses 132 channels of illuminated segments. The innermost circle shows the hours in 12 segments, with familiar markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The minutes are tracked with 60 segments on the middle circle, while the seconds are displayed on the outermost ring, lighting up progressively in real time.

Precision Technology and Customization

Using digitally addressable RGB LEDs and a custom control module, Tempus allows users to choose their time zone and adjust lighting patterns and colors beyond the preset options. Time can be manually adjusted with a control rotor, which also changes modes with a press. A long press puts Tempus into sleep mode, suitable for settings like bedrooms or hotel rooms.

Sustainability and Materials

Tempus is designed and made in the UK, featuring over 70% recycled or recyclable materials. It is housed in an aluminum frame, with options for wall or stand mounting. The timepiece is energy efficient, running on less than 5 amps, and its components, such as the PCBs from Italy and LEDs from the USA, are sourced with attention to quality and sustainability.
