Scheduled from April 16 to 21, the 2024 edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano marks a period of evolution and innovation, offering a platform for companies to network through phygital tools and focusing on the visitor with a reorganized space that optimizes pathways for better usability. Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano summarizes: “Capturing new trends, the evolution of an entire sector by engaging and listening to both close and distant communities, identifying new approaches, methodologies, and technologies, experimenting, in a word ‘being on the frontier’: this remains the ambition of the Fair.” This ambition also translates into a rich cultural program and a Triennale exhibition dedicated to Salone Satellite, a talent forge for a quarter-century.
The New Exhibition Layout for Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024
The upcoming edition will feature the biennial EuroCucina with FTK-Technology for the Kitchen and the International Bathroom Exhibition, renewed with a new internal path redesigned by Lombardini22, the studio that last year took on the renewal of Euroluce. To improve the visitor experience, we’ve used neuroscience to study how visitors emotionally and perceptually react to different pathways, locations, and the layout of rest areas. The chosen ring path is more intuitive, simple to follow, and easy to remember; in each pavilion, only 640 meters will need to be covered instead of the previous 1.2 kilometers, significantly saving energy and time. For the second consecutive year, Salone del Mobile.Milano will take up just one level of the Rho Fiera space and use the Ponte dei Mari, enabling quick movement between pavilions via moving walkways.
Celebrating 25 Years of Salone Satellite
Created by Marva Griffin, Salone Satellite celebrates its 25th edition, highlighting its role as a bridge between emerging talents and companies. This year’s theme, “Connecting Design since 1998,” showcases its impact. A special Triennale exhibition from April 16-28, designed by Beppe Finessi, will honor this achievement, though specific details remain under wraps.
Exploring the Cultural Program of Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024
Starting last year with the City of Lights exhibition in the Euroluce pavilions, the cultural program of Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024 engages the entire visit path with three installations.
There will be Thought Rooms by David Lynch, A Thinking Room, signed by the famous American director, reflecting on the deep relationship between interior design and the self. Ethics, sustainability, and technology will instead be the focus of Under the Surface, the installation by Accurat, Design Group Italia, and Emiliano Ponzi in the spaces of the International Bathroom Exhibition. It will feature a submerged island to reflect on a more conscious use of water resources and the role of the bathroom furnishing chain in water management. Finally, in the spaces of Eurocucina, the focus will be on food design with the work of six independent food magazines with artists, designers, and chefs under the broad umbrella of the project All You Have Ever Wanted to Know About Food Design in Six Performances.
Innovation and Sustainability in Formafantasma’s (Upcycled) Arena at Salone del Mobile 2024
Reusing most materials from last year, the circular arena by Formafantasma will be reconstructed to host the Drafting Futures.Conversations about Next Perspectives. Every day at 11:00 am, it will feature talks by international figures like Francis Kéré, John Pawson, Jeanne Gang, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Maria Porro. A bookshop curated by Corraini, present for the second consecutive year, further emphasizes the importance of culture and education in the design field at Fiera Milano.
