LUMEN / Workshop: Kinetic Lights

How can the body’s movement be transformed into a visual and sonic landscape in real time? How can kinetic lights, artificial intelligence, motion tracking, and sound design come together in a single immersive ecosystem?

During LUMEN we offer artists, performers, and designers the opportunity to explore the boundaries between technology and contemporary expressive languages with a free workshop dedicated to the future of audiovisual art.

Please remember to bring your laptop, well charged (plugs for charging will be present but we do not ensure the ability to charge PCs).

The workshop will be held in Italian.

Limited number! Only 30 spots available.
Free registration available at this link.

Meet the instructors

Kinetic Lights will be led by two leading figures in the field of creative research and interactive experimentation: Nima Gazestani, Interaction Designer, Creative Technologist, and University Lecturer and Jack Sapienza, Sound Designer, Music Producer, and Co-founder of RKH Studio.

An Interactive Ecosystem Where Every Element Communicates

Over the course of the two-hour workshop, participants will be introduced to an integrated system that combines:

for visual manipulation and data stream management

for sound design and audio-light synchronization

for body tracking and silhouette capture

for real-time AI image generation

for a dynamic and responsive light environment

Thanks to this setup, participants will see how every movement influences images, sounds, and lights in real time, creating a constantly evolving environment—an expressive organism in which the human body becomes an active part of the visual and sonic narrative.

From Theory to Practice: An Immersive and Experimental Experience

Participants will be able to interact directly with the system, test parameters in real time, modify lighting behaviors, and explore how to integrate AI, tracking, and sound into a unified creative flow.

The workshop will alternate between explanation, hands-on experimentation, and direct interaction with the two professionals, opening up new perspectives for future applications in performance, installation, museum, or musical contexts.

Kinetic Lights is the first content of Binaries, a special section of Atmosfera Magazine dedicated to the development of synergies in the world of lighting design professionals. A space for professional growth for the community through talks, workshops and dedicated content. We investigate the most contemporary themes of all professions connected to Light, seeking valuable tools and insights.
